Amanda Bynes' Mom Granted Temporary Conservatorship

"Amanda Bynes is officially under the legal control of her mother. A judge granted the 27-year-old actress' mom Lynn, a temporary conservatorship on Friday, Aug. 9, Us Weekly has learned. Though she was initially ordered to appear in court on Friday, Bynes did not attend the hearing after a judge granted doctors' request to extend her psychiatric hold for 30 more days, as reported by TMZ. The Easy A star's lawyer told the judge that the actress doesn't believe the conservatorship is necessary. Judge Glen. M. Reiser said the conservatorship gives Lynn the "right to control placement and right to determine medical care." Reiser added, "Provisionally does not have ability to contract other than minor conservatory matters. Essentially you're the boss." After an initial extension of two weeks, a judge granted doctors' request to further extend Bynes' mental health evaluation by an additional 30 days. The order requires a patient to be "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder." The temporary conservatorship will last through Sept. 30, when another hearing will be held. Tamar Arminack, the lawyer representing Bynes' parents Rick and Lynn, said Friday, "My clients are just interested in getting their daughter well."
