Brandy Performs For 40 People in 90,000 Seat South African Stadium

"Brandy encountered a musician's worst nightmare on Saturday, Aug. 17, after her surprise appearance at the Mandela Sports and Culture Day in Soweto, South Africa turned out to be a flop when there were only 40 people in the 90,000-seat stadium.

According to South African musician Kabomo, the startlingly low attendance rate was likely because "people didn't know there was a concert after the games."

"No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 person audience," he tweeted, adding that the R&B star performed with the stadium lights on. "She sulked after two songs and walked off."

Brandy, 34, was meant to join the likes of South African musicians David Jenkins, Elvis, Blue, Salif Keita and D'Banj for a rousing Saturday performance following the day's football and rugby matches, but by the time she took to the stage, many sports fans had already left.

"Brandy performing for the chairs!" one concertgoer tweeted. According to the UK's The Guardian, even SABC, the country's national TV channel, stopped filming a broadcast of the concert long before she even took the stage.
